What Would Rush Do?
The problem with Democrats is that they write things like this. The UAE ports deal is a truly boneheaded political play, whatever the merits of the issue may be. But Dems, well, they worry about the merits. They don't want to pre-judge.
I hate to say this. I really do. But imagine, if you will, what the reaction would be if, say, President Kerry had signed off on a deal to contract out port management to a UAE-(that's United Arab Emirates, people)-owned company. (State-owned, even, which would be good for hundreds of socialism references on Faux News.)
What would Rush say, if that were the case? The mind literally boggles. And we know that Rush doesn't worry the merits.

So funny; when I read that headline I was sure you were talking about Super Prog Band Rush; known for such hits as Freewill, Spirit of Radio, and Tom Sawyer.
But Kevin Drum is no Rush. That's clear. You're basically saying that because Kevin Drum doesn't live up to the Rush standard, no democrat is as viscious as republicans. Are you saying that there is no Republican who is a Kevin Drum equivilant? I think that's false.
I'm not saying that there's no Republican Kevin Drum, although I'm not sure who that person is (candidates?). And there are vicious Democrats, like . . . well, I'm sure there are some. But anyone who watches American politics has to admit that the Democrats are prone to, as the saying goes, bringing the proverbial knife to the proverbial gun fight (not quite how the saying goes). And then, when the GOP points to the knife (sticking with an increasingly strained metaphor), the Democrats tend to apologize for engaging in self-defense.
The word for Democrats, in my mind, is feckless.
The word for the Bush GOP, ruthless.
