As I parsed Bush's statement yesterday it seemed to me that he was saying that yes, Libby lied (he's not quibbling with the jury's decision), but that the sentence was too harsh, hence the commuting of the sentence rather than a pardon. It will be interesting to see whether or not he sticks to this line of reasoning and decision. I suspect, however, that towards the end of Bush's tenure around the time when Libby finally fails in the appeals process, he'll give Scooter the full pardon and thus demonstrate once again that you can't believe a word he says.
