I think Sam's comment is that the headlines are going to be that Michele Wie misses the cut, and that's a failure, but that the headlines should be, or could be, equally well, Michele Wie misses the cut, and that's pretty amazing for a girl of 16. I don't want to speak for Sam, because he's really good at the speaking thing, plus there's that whole played college golf aspect of his record.
Btw, I think Sam meant that a .500 record is good in baseball, not a .500 BA. I didn't re-read his post, so this could be wrong. But that's how I remember it from the other day. And as a Tigers fan, I'd be ecstatic over a .500 season right about now. Fans of more, er, successful teams might object to .500 as a mark of a successful year . . . .
