Dirty Rice

Will this finally put an end to all those loopy stories about a Condi bid for VP? Maybe if Saint Johnny goes all cardiac in the White House she can nutsack-shock him back to life.

As with most of these stories, I wonder about the sourcing. Most of the time, I assume that the participant who comes off looking the best is the anonymous source. In this case, that would make it Ashcroft, no? And if that's correct (and it's pure speculation, of course), then we should discount his self-serving statement, right?

And in answer to TMcD's query, I don't see why this will hurt Condi's VEEP chances. From the lizard brain p-o-v, this shows that Condi is "serious" and "hard." She's tough, unlike that soft-on-terrorism Obama.

You're right, 3: the GOP just loves nominating pro-choice black women of, shall we say, "ambiguous" sexuality. Add in that she got the 9/11 warning memo in August 2001, hyped the nuclear threat from Iraq, and was the all-around worst NSA in American history, not to mention a constant reminder of the beloved Bush administration & its policies. Then there's the fact that she has never run for elected office in her life. All that plus torture choreography makes her the ideal pick. I really, really hope they go this route.

Oh, and Ashcroft. He doesn't really look that good if you actually examine what he says. He doesn't oppose the policy. He just thinks that it shouldn't be discussed by the inner cabinet in the White House, for appearances sake.
