Bay-E

Why no TenaciousMcD posts of late? Been working on a project. Here she is. Bay Elizabeth arrived on Saturday, April 18 at 10:30 AM: 7 lb., 13 oz., 19 3/4 inches long. She looks to me like the shrunken voodoo head of J. Edgar Hoover, which I mean in the cutest way imaginable. Her sister is thrilled. Bay herself is especially happy to have gotten some pretty new shoes for her one week b-day. For our part, we probably could have timed this better than to coincide with term papers. Hard to complain about that girl, though.

Conratulaions! She's cute as can be. Must be exciting for Lang to have a new sister. I hope that her and Liz are both doing well. Next up, baby brother for the two beautiful little angels, right? Give them my best. Went with Bay instead of Lucy, eh? Bay is a beautiful name as well. Congratulations again.

She is BEAUTIFUL. There is quite an amazing TMcD resemblance there, too. Thanks for posting these! I know it's a wonderful time for you and Mrs. TMcD. Big, big congratulations.

Sorry to be slow in seeing these photos - been a few days since I've checked the blog. Just *finished* textbook revisions today! Woohooo. Unfortunately, that Arlen Specter switch is going to force some last minute corrections . . .

Will, welcome to FFB! Yes, Lucy finished 2nd again in the great McD baby-namestakes. As much as I love that name, she really does look more like a "Bay," although I'm still searching for cute Bay-related nicknames.

Frances, thanks! The early consensus, however, seems to be that young Bay came out looking less like the tenacious one than did her sister, and her sister doesn't look that McD any more either--to her own great relief. The above view is especially prominent among the Vietnamese quartile of her family, who see Bay as their long awaited "Asian" baby. The jury is still out on that one too (blue eyes, brown hair, etc.). FWIW, I probably gravitate toward photos that make my girl look like her proud papa.

BTW, congrats on the book! And thanks for the shoes and diapers. Lang already tried to put them on, w/o much luck.

Nicknames for Bay? Are you kidding, because that one's too easy, no?

I think Bay Bay ("Bebe") is your first and best option.

Then there are all the geographic references: Hudson Bay, Botany Bay (say it like Chekhov in Wrath of Khan), San Francisco Bay . . .

I haven't looked this up, but since Bay is an Irish name, then there must be a traditional Irish nickname, like Peg for Margaret, for any such name.

But seriously, congrats. I've looked at the pix but never got around to the comments. Frances hasn't been the only one busy around here.
