Bar Nunn

For the first time in a month it was safe to watch the Sunday shows, knowing that, with Obama romping (very predictibly) on Tuesday, we're finally past an especially silly stage in election coverage from the commentariat. So what happens on my teevee? Both FTN and TW offer "expert" analysis suggesting Sam Nunn as Obama's running mate: first from the Politico's Jim VandeHei on FTN, and then George Will on TW. Excuse me? Sam Nunn? You mean a guy with the charisma of a turnip who is as old as John McCain, hasn't run for election since 1990, couldn't possibly bring his home state (Georgia), and has absolutely zero constituency outside the MSM chatterbots? True, nothing says "change" like trying to replace Dick Cheney with his closest avatar in the Democratic Party, but how desperate would Obama have to be before he had to go there? It just goes to show how addicted the punditocracy is to its "centrism" Cialis: a Beltway boner lasts much longer than four hours and you must never seek medical attention.

I heard GFW say this, too, and had a somewhat similar, if more profanity-laced, reaction. As in, "WTF GFW?" But the worst, by far, on TW was Cokie Monster. OMG. That woman is the epitome of all that I hate about Washington, in one convenient package. However, if Cokie Monster heard me say that, she would think that I have a problem with women. No, I don't. Just a problem with you!

The only talking heads I can stand, at present, are B-lister Chuck Todd and occasionally Rachel Maddow on MSNBC's election night panel. And Pat Buchanan, but as most of you know, I have a real soft spot for that crazy old fascist.

How true. I actually thought about writing an extra paragraph to this post on how much I hate Cokie Roberts, but I really couldn't think of anything to write except profanities, and I decided that such a rant would just prove her point, whatever the hell it was, about blogs or sexism or how the Democratic Party was so much better when her family ran it and nobody ever did anything except dine with lobbyists and kiss GOP ass.

That whole ABC panel is just one big wankfest, with the possible exception of Ruth Markus. The MSNBC crowd is soooo much better. Todd, Maddow, Pitchfork Pat, and how could you forget Eugene Robinson? That guy has more common sense than a truckload of Cokies.

Oh, and if anyone actually thinks Ed Rendell makes a plausible VP choice, they need to get back on their meds, and I mean NOW.

Oops. I forgot Gene Robinson, who I actually still think of as a Post columnist and forget that '08 has made him a media star. Gene rocks. He's not Colby King, but then, who is?
